Q I'm not sure if I understand what a title screen is. Could you explain it?
A Absolutely. When you create a video or movie in Windows Movie Maker or using other video creation software, you will often (if not always) put a title or title sequence at the beginning and credits at the end. You normally do this by using the 'Titles and Credits' option in Movie Maker. The 'title screen' is simply the screen that is displayed behind the title or credits text. Perhaps the best description for the title screens is 'title screen backgrounds,' as their main function is to provide an interesting background for the title or credits text you are displaying. Using title screens such as those included in our title packs add interest, provide a polished touch and give your videos an exciting edge over those plain, boring videos you see on sites such as YouTube all the time. You can even raise your profile and image by using quality add-ons such as these!
Q I am a beginner with Windows Movie Maker and don't know how to do anything technical. Will I be able to use the title screens?
A Yes. There is no special knowledge required at all. If you know how to add images or video clips to the Timeline or Storyboard (which anyone must do to use Movie Maker) you will be able to use the title screens. They are added and used the same way as any other video clip or picture.
Q Will the title screens work with any other video editing / movie making software besides Windows Movie Maker?
A Yes, the animated title screen backgrounds will work with most video editing software designed for the Windows® operating system. The screens are video clips in WMV format (*.wmv) and are often compatible with Windows® based video editors / movie making software. If your favorite video editing software does not accept WMV files (some may require AVI or MPEG for example) the clips can be easily converted to those or other formats with most video conversion software. (Conversions to a format suitable for the MAC operating system can also probably be done but we have not confirmed this to date.) There are many freeware conversion programs for converting video from one format to another - from WMV to AVI for example.
Q In your preview video there is a Nifter.com logo in the bottom right corner. Will that logo be on the title screens that I purchase?
A No. The logo is only used for the online preview videos to help protect the integrity of the title screens. The title screens you receive are the same as the previes but without the text and logo that are displayed in the preview video. In other words, blank title screens. They are also of a higher quality since the previews have been futher compressed for lower bandwith internet display.
Q How long is each title screen (video clip)?
A Each animated title screen is about 45 seconds in length. Most title sequences are completed in less time than that; however, if you need a longer time the screens can be merged together. They can also be split or adjusted in the timeline of Movie Maker for shorter needs. The static screens are images so the above does not apply to them. For static screens you would just adjust the length to your requirments as with any other picture in a Movie Maker project.
Q The title screens with abstract designs look really cool. Why don't you make all the video clips like that?
A There is a specific reason for keeping title screen backgrounds to a more subtle level. Remember that title screens are really about the title, that is, the text that you are displaying over the screens. Animated title screen backgrounds add interest and give the video a nice, eye-catching appeal; abstract designs are not always desirable for every type of video or movie. No doubt, the abstract type animations do look great and they certainly have many uses, but subtle title screen backgrounds also have an important place, probably even more so than the video clips / title screen backgrounds with abstract animations. We are currently offering title background animations of all varieties as that is what most people are looking for. For those like you who have a particular interest in the abstract, or even 'wild and crazy' type designs, we have special title packs on the way that will contain only those types of animations. Bookmark Nifter.com and check back later. There are some really cool animations in the works.
Q Can I use the title screens in commercial projects? Do I need a special license or have to pay a fee if I use a title screen in a video that is used for commercial purposes, one that is intended to make money?
A Yes you can and no you don't need any special license. The title screens can be used in both personal projects and commercial ventures. No special license or fee is required to do so. You cannot re-distribute the title screens (see next question) but otherwise you can view them as royalty free animated video backgrouds.
Q Can I sell the title screens on my website or give them to other people?
A No, the screens cannot be re-sold, given away or otherwise distributed to other parties. To do so would be in direct violation of the copyright and you would be placing yourself in legal jeopardy. This is normal procedure for electronic / digital products of this nature and in keeping with copyright law and the purchase agreement. Without this protection there would be no point in creating digital downloads for the internet community; because of that, we take it very seriously and pursue violators aggressively. We have no choice.
Now, having said that, we do plan to offer an associate plan in the future whereby you will be able to sell title screen packs and other products from your website and earn a good commission from each sale. Keep an eye on the Windows Movie Maker section of this website for future details. If you would like to arrange the selling of the title screens on your website before the associate plan is available, contact us and we can discuss it.
Q There is a part in the preview video where it looks like the video clip is playing on a television. Is there any way I can get that title screen?
A In the near future, title screens such as the one you mention will be available on Nifter.com, in fact, there will be many in some very cool designs that you are sure to love. Information about these incredible screens will be available in the Movie Maker section at that time.
